Summer 2026 · For Words Writing Services
Ten one-hour sessions with Steven B. Killion, PhD — humanities specialist, writing coach, and academic tutor with nearly four decades of experience. In person or online. Flexible scheduling. One rate.
High school, AP, college, or adult learner — pick the course that fits your goals and let’s get to work.
Course 01
Most students read for plot. This course teaches you to read for meaning — the way professors, critics, and scholars do. You will learn to see structure, argument, and implication where other readers see only sentences.
Course 02
Steven has helped hundreds of students transform their writing — not just fixing errors, but building the confidence and judgment that produce consistently strong work. This course goes sentence by sentence, draft by draft.
Course 03
Whether you are preparing for AP Latin, consolidating a difficult year, or picking up where class left off, this course works through original texts with a PhD medievalist who reads Latin deeply — Caesar and Vergil, Cicero and Livy, Pliny and Lucretius.
Pick the enrichment track that fits your goals. Or mix sessions across courses — they’re your ten hours.
Purchase 10 sessions at once for $900 — saving $350 off the standard rate.
Use the online booking calendar to set sessions whenever they work for you — weekly, intensive, or spread across the summer.
Sessions available in person in the Wake County, NC area, or online via video call.

“On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give Steven an 11. Immediately after their session, my son told me how things went — and was genuinely excited. I can give no higher recommendation.”— Katie, Parent
“He is not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also incredibly patient and understanding. Thanks to Steven, my son feels well-prepared and more confident in his abilities.”— M, Parent of High School Student
Steven holds a BA, MA, and PhD in English Language and Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill, with a specialty in Medieval Studies and deep expertise in Latin. He has been coaching writers and tutoring students since 1985 — from high school through graduate and professional level.
He teaches the way a teacher reads: carefully, with full attention, and with the goal of building independence. His students don’t just improve for the assignment in front of them. They develop habits of mind that carry forward.
Ten sessions. Three courses. One excellent tutor. Book your package now, then schedule sessions at your convenience all summer long.
